Reflections

We made a quick trip off of the mountian yesterday afternoon to send the Dish Network receiver back via UPS. By the time we got back home it was drizzling freezing rain. The snow was already coated with a nice thickness of ice and this new moisture would only add to it. As I was sitting at the computer last night, I glanced out the window and was facinated with the reflection from the security light off of the ice covered snow. I grabbed the camera and out the door I went. One thing I had forgotten when I took the picture is that a shot in the dark needs a very steady hand. Otherwise you don't get a real clear picture, but that just adds to the creativeness of the shot....don't you think! lol

After my fretting over how blurred the picture turned out, J.D. (Sweetheart that he is) stepped outside in the cold and took the shot again. It is a much clearer picture. Now I am wondering why the difference in the color between the two pictures. They were taken only a few minutes apart. Perhaps there is some sort of strange atmospheric stuff going on here on the mountain late at night that we just weren't aware of before now. {{ Place Twilight Zone music here}}

Today is supposed to be high speed hook up day.................. We will see.

Have a great day and stay warm.

Hi Jo,
I found your blog over at Mary's Writing Nook and came to visit. I was hooked after reading that you live on a mountain!! I have spent most of the day, off and on, reading through your archives and also your hubby's blog! I love them both and will definitely be back here to visit!

Come by and visit my little blog when you get a chance.

Hugs,
Hope

Here's to high speed!

My wife just got her very own high speed connection back home in Wyoming -it makes the world of difference! The one we were using before hand was SHOCKING. I have seen molasses move faster on a dry day...

Hope it works out for you!

Great pictures as always!

Cheers.

Now I can't get that Twilight Zone theme music out of my head! lol Isn't it amazing how two pictures, taken just minutes apart, can come out so differently...I wonder if he used the same setting as you did or a flash versus no flash? What a great picture it turned out to be, though, you can really see the ice reflected in the light!! Fingers crossed that you got your high speed today! xox

Wow. Nice blog. Thanks for stopping at my place. I have a larger blog at Brookville Daily Photo with lots of stories about Ohio and things I remember from my youth. You might be interested in the story I posted today about our Nuclear Power (corn cobs).

I really like you blog and your profile was interesting. I can't help but wonder where you live and am guessing somewhere around Waverly, or Portsmouth but last I would say close to Shawnee State Forest.

I'm a little jealous-we haven't had much snow to speak of this year. That being said-I'm not too sad to see winter go and welcome spring.

No jealousy HERE about the snow and ice! LOL i like sitting here snugly in my mild weather home in California and LOOKING at photos taken by the rest of you with REAL weather... ;-)

Those are cool photos, i actually like them both! Yours looks a bit more like a painting, eh?
