Olley Olley Ox In Free........

Have you all been wondering what has happened to us? Why I haven't been making the rounds leaving my little comments, as I make my way through Cyber City? Have you ever had a bad hair day that turned into a bad hair week? Well if you have, you know where I am right now. Monday the computer wasn't acting right and I decided to restart it, as that usually takes care of what ever is ailing it....... Not this time. Instead I got a notice from the computer telling me it 'Quit', it had gone on strike and refused to start again. We are running Windows Vista and I have heard so many complaints about Vista and just couldn't understand it. We have had this computer about a year and not the first lick of trouble from it. In fact I like Vista better than I did XP. Just a couple of days after I had bragged on Vista it decides to crash on us.

No way could I allow it to get the better of me. I followed the on screen instructions to try to get the silly thing to boot up safely, but it just wasn't happening. Time to call in the reserves, so a call went out to tech support. After what seemed to be hours on the phone following instructions to first try this and when that didn't work let's try this other way. Nothing was working so as a last resort we did a complete restore which meant rebuilding everything to the way it was when we first got it. It also meant that anything that was saved on the computer was lost to us........ Everything!

So I have been adding back the programs that we had before and trying to re-coop the favorites that I had saved. I learned an important lesson through this experience. I don't do backups any where near as much as I should. I am so happy that I have posted pictures of the grands, because all of our photos were lost as well. I can get some of them back from the ones I posted on the blog. While we were at it, J.D. added more memory to the computer. It seems to have a little more get up and go to it now.

I am still pretty busy getting things put back so it will be a little while before I am back to making the rounds. I just wanted you to know what was going on and that you shouldn't be concerned that perhaps I tripped and fell off of the mountain ridge.
Wishing you a Blessed Day!

I had wondered about you, but thought maybe you were just busy and taking some time away from the 'puter.

Sorry about your 'puter troubles. I've had to do a restore on this computer too. Thanks for reminding me that I should do a back up point since I haven't done one in a long time! You never know when you may need to restore and it's a pain trying to add stuff back that you've lost since the last back up. Plus, as you said, many things you can't recover and restore.

Hope it's all better now and you don't have any more problems.

Have a great rest of your week and weekend, Jo. :o)

Love and hugs,

Diane

So sorry about your computer. My daughter's computer got a virus recently and she lost everything too, even years of pictures. I know she will be backing up everything from now on. What a horrid disappointment!

Not good. The thought of possibly losing so much is what makes me back up on my portable hard drive. But not often enough. I am about to do just that as I speak. I hope it gets sorted soon, and yes - we missed you!

Glad to see you up and running again Jo, this sort of PC trouble gives me the jitters, 'cos I haven't a scoobie how to sort it - reload/reboot/re-whatsit... I'm afraid I just rest my weary and ask my angel to be there to catch me... My last PC used to drive me insane and it would go haywire at times, it would just shut down (literally 20 times a day ! no joking) and I would then have to switch off and switch on again. The one I got at Christmas is still the same system - not Vista, Gosh, the number of folk I know who changed to Vista and are having trouble - incredible. I hope you are finished with your problems with yours. Why do the computer folk not just sort out the problems with one sort instead of starting a completely new model and give folk diferent problems - arggghh! Oops his master's voice is calling, I hear his dulcet tones - breakfast must be ready! (he Chef- me everything else)..

Bye for now, Kate x.
