Wash Day Blues

I got up yesterday morning and decided I would get a couple of loads of clothes washed before Greg arrived. With that bright idea, I sorted the clothes and got one load started and then off I went to make the bed and take my Byetta shot and grab something for breakfast. After a while I meandered my way back to the laundry room to put another load in the washer. As soon as I was within eye shot of the laundry room I stopped in my tracks. The laundry room floor had become a wading pool. It seems that the washers brain had come down with a bad case of senility and forgot to tell the washer when it was full and to stop running water.

After getting that mess mopped up, I thought no problem, I can manually turn the water on and off as it goes through its cycles. Well that didn't work either because it wasn't going to be agitating anything but my mood. I can't really complain though because we bought the washer and dryer used four years ago and paid just a little over $100 for both of them. So I would say we got far more than our money's worth out of it. I can see a new washer is in the future though.

Greg didn't make it in until this morning. Bless his heart, he got turned around in Kentucky and spent a lot more time there than he really wanted to, just trying to get going in the right direction. I know every time we go through Lexington, we usually miss our turn off either coming or going. So we know what he was going through. He ended up just spending the night there and starting out fresh this morning and that worked for him.
Britt and T~Bear are spending the night with us. Tersie had the opportunity to go to a comedy show in Columbus tonight and would be coming in late. Any time we can have these children with us, we jump at the chance. They stayed over with us last month and I had them up and at school well before time. I promised them that I wouldn't make them go to school before sunrise this time ...... lol

We decided on on Mother's Day what the menu would be for dinner tonight . I asked them if they would like Lasagna and T~Bear suggested Ravioli, we added a salad and garlic bread to that and we ended up with a good filling meal. The first batch of garlic bread I home cooked though and had to quickly do up another batch. There is a story in my home cooked meals that deserves a post all to itself.

Everyone has settled in the living room to watch a movie. I am so glad that Greg was able to come visit with us. J.D. has been missing his children and he is loving every minute that Greg is here. I remember how much I missed my children and grandchildren when we were in Louisiana.

I'll be closing this post for the night and will check in again when I can. Until then I wish you many blessings. ~Jo

Company's Comin'

First of all, I had a very nice Mother's Day yesterday. Chris and Melody were in Kentucky for the weekend with her mother and grandmother. I applaud Melody for wanting to be with them on holidays. Melody's grandma is 90 years old and won't be here for many more years, so she really should be there to celebrate these important times with her. J.D. and I went to town yesterday and had dinner with Tersie and the girls at the China One restaurant. I love Chinese food and the company just made it all the more special. Next Sunday Melody is planning a Mother's Day celebration for me with my children and grandchildren. I know that Melody and Tersie both read my blog and what I am about to say I want them both to know, and that is ->any time that I can spend with my whole family is a celebration for me<- :-) I love each and everyone of you!

Before you read any further please click on my play list. I have two treats for you. First is a Mother's Day song by my favorite Cajun singer Wayne Toups. Next is a song by Arlo Gutherie called the 'Motorcycle Song." I was a big fan of Arlo's music back in the 60's. Hmmmmm ...... are my Hippie roots showing? Can we all say "Baby Boomer"? lol

Now I guess you are wondering what is up with all of this motorcycle stuff. Well our "Rebel" son, Greg will be wheeling in from Texas some time today and I wanted to do things up right for him. Last year he and his mother-in-law rode their bikes up for a visit. Yes, that's right I did say his mother-in-law. Greg, Tammi(our wonderful daughter-in-law) and Sandra all ride motorcycles. Sandra rides a trike that she had converted from a motorcycle (A beautiful machine), She is "The Big Mama" of their biking group..... All 100 pounds of her. Greg is coming by himself this year though. We have that new baby due the end of the month and those two grandma's aren't about to wander this far away being so close to the due date.

I put a roast, carrots and new potatoes in the crock pot early this morning. He stopped last night in the northern part of Alabama. I have worried about him since he started his trip up here. It just isn't safe to travel alone any more no matter if you are a woman or a man. There is just so much evil in the world today. I have lots to do before Greg gets here so this is going to be a short post.

Wishing all a day of blessings.

Happy Mother's Day

This Posting is dedicated to my mother and J.D's mother, as well as all those mother's that have gone on to their Heavenly reward. Until we are together again, know how much you are loved and missed.

A Heavenly Mother's Day

She sails upon the clouds of blue
Within her favorite color
She is my angel up above
My sweet and loving mother
Still watching over me
Every day and every night
Sending my heart wonderful memories
Filled with love to always shine
To ease the pain of missing her
Within this heart of mine
I reminisce of her often
Of all her gentle ways. . . to always be
When this special day comes around
I feel blessed God choose her for me
And yes, there are times
I shed my lonely tears
Thinking of her up above
Wishing she were near
But how can I be sad for long?
Knowing where she dwells
For it is heaven she now calls her home
No more pain or worry. . . in her days
No tears to fill her eyes
No heartache or sickness to ever touch her
Where the sun always beautifully shines
So on this day I’ll celebrate
Because once she was my own
The sweetest Mother in the world
This daughter has ever known
So as I visit her this Sunday
Among the markers I’ll make my way
I’ll lay the pretty bouquet beside her
My respects, I will lovingly pay
Knowing in my heart
We will be together someday
While here I will close my eyes
I will dream of her sweet embrace
As I wish for her. . . once again,
A Heavenly Mother's Day

I believe In Miracles

I want to thank everyone for their 'Get Well' wishes. I am feeling much better.
I am sure that you are all interested in the latest update on Dominic. The last report that I had was a couple of days ago. Dominic is blind and the Doctors are giving him a 25% chance of regaining his sight. Tests have shown that there is still pockets of swelling in his brain. Perhaps when all of the swelling goes down his vision will return. They did a tracheotomy the other day, which they believe will need to be permanent. The family was told that Dominic will never mentally progress past the age of two. On top of all of this the poor baby is going to spend at the very least a month in the hospital. This family has been given a lot to try to digest all at one time. Please keep little Dominic in your prayers, as well as the family. I will continue to keep you updated as I learn more. There have been cases where doctors have been wrong in their diagnosis. The future looks bleak for Dominic right now, but I believe in miracles and the power of God's healing power and love.

As a tribute to my mother, I wrote a poem for her before the cancer took her away from me. She lived for two months after the cancer moved to her brain. I read this at her memorial service. To celebrate her memory for Mother's Day I would like to share that poem with all of you.

'Jo and Mom'

My Mother's Love

~*~*~*~

Through the years I came to you,

with hurts of all kinds.

Some were major cuts and wounds,

some almost too small to find.

~*~*~*~
Still you kissed away the hurt,

for everything, you seemed to have a cure.

My Mother's Love was always there,

to make me feel secure.

~*~*~*~
When dreams awoke me from sleep,

and filled the night with fear,

My Mother's Love was always there,

to dry my every tear.

~*~*~*~
You taught me solid values,

what was wrong and right.

When I questioned and faltered,

My Mother's Love was always there,

to be my guiding light.

~*~*~*~
It didn't go unnoticed,

that many times you went without.

My Mother's Love was always there,

to teach what giving was about.

~*~*~*~
I admire you beyond words,

your pain has been life long.

My Mother's Love was always there,

showing me how to be strong.

~*~*~*~
When my heart has been broken,

and I thought it would never mend.

My Mother's Love was always there,

to prove a mother can also be a friend.

~*~*~*~
Any good that has come from my life,

Any pain I have learned to rise above.

Gentleness and concern I have passed on

I owe it all to....
