In My Dream........

I am one of those people that does not know what it is like to get a good nights sleep. I am up and down most nights, all night long. Due to my failure to sleep through the night, I seldom ever dream. If I do dream, I seldom remember what I dreamed about. The other day I was having a bad fibromyalgia day and laid down and caught a little nap. I dreamed about Brittany receiving an award for her beautiful singing. She had been invited to the White House by the President to sing at a social gathering of famous politicians. We were so proud of her and were all trying to do what we could to get things ready for her trip to Washington D.C. and her performance at the White House. This way she could concentrate on practicing her music. I heard the hum of a sewing machine somewhere in the house and sought out the room that the sound was coming from. My mother died in 2001, I was so excited and filled with so much happiness when I saw her sitting at the sewing machine. She was creating a dress from the most beautiful fabric I had ever seen before in my life. The material was so light and flowing and the color was ever changing. Every time the fabric was moved or touched the color would fade from one color into another. Not only that, but all of the colors were complimentary to Brittany's complexion. I ask her where in the 'world' did she find such beautiful fabric and she said that it isn't of this 'world' and asked me where I thought it came from. I asked if it came from Heaven and she told me I was right. She said that our Brittany needed a dress as special as she is. It was about this time that I started to wake up. I didn't want to wake up, I wanted to stay with my mother a little while longer and I fought so hard to go back into my dream, but I woke up instead. It was such a wonderful visit and gave me such a peaceful feeling just to sit next to her once more and watch her skillful hands guide the fabric as she created the perfect dress for her great grand daughter. Hopefully some day I will find my way back to that place in my mind where dreams linger and happiness abides.

"If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?"
~Percy Shelley

Well friends, it is official. Punxsutawney Phil woke to see his shadow and decided to go back to sleep for another 6 weeks. Don't shoot the messenger. Phil was just doing what he does best, letting us know that we need to wait a bit longer for Spring to come. I really can't see where I can complain about the delay of Spring's arrival. We had descent weather well into the month of December and January hasn't been nearly as harsh as it could have been and has been in past years. So I will reserve my right to complain for some other reason.

Wishing you all the blessings of sweet dreams.........

Dreams Do Come True.....

How proud we are of our rebel son, Gregg who lives in Texas. Gregg has been working as a paramedic for some years now. Gregg and Tammi (Gregg's wife and our wonderful daughter-in-law...... Wave at us Tammi :o) have dreamed of the day when their two daughters, Alaina and Becky were on their own. It would be then that they dreamed of journeying across the country as freelance RNs. Before they could do that though Gregg needed to go to school and get his RN training and license. Tammi already has hers. His hard work and studies has paid off. Gregg is now an RN!! We are so very proud of you Gregg. We know that you will do your job with dedication and show the kind of care to your patients that will bring them healing both of the mind and the body. Tammi and her mother Sandra deserve a round of applause too for all that they did to make sure Gregg had the oportunity reach his goals.

J.D. and I have been walking around here with so much pride for our guys that we are puffed up like a couple of toads. You see Gregg isn't the only one that has had a dream come true. Our Yankee son Chris, has also been working hard to realize a goal that he has been reaching for. Chris studied to be an Electrician at JVS. After graduation he drove around 140 miles a day to work at his trade. Because it wasn't a union job he was working for low pay and no benefits. Chris has worked many jobs in his young adult life and wore many hats. When he was fortunate enough to join IBEW local 575 he then found himself working as an electrician at a decent wage and benefits while at the same time back to school to complete his apprenticeship program. The union recently had an opening for an Apprenticeship Instructor. Melody got his resume together and Chris applied for the position. We all were praying, as well crossing our fingers and anything else we could cross because this has been Chris' dream for a very long time. He will only be about 5 miles from home..... No overtime, no more long drives to and from work and no more working outside in the cold of winter and heat of summer. Most important he will have more time to spend with his family doing something else that he does in an outstanding way, being a Dad. Chris is finishing up his second week now as instructor. There is no doubt in my mind that the students that finish up their apprenticeship program with Chris as their instructor will be outstanding electricians. Again, we are so very proud of you Chris! Melody deserves a round of applause as well, many times she has taken up the slack doing her part as well as Chris' as a parent because demands of Chris' jobs were requiring more time from him for one reason or another.

Last week we were able to catch Riley and Alley Oop's ball games on the same day at the same time and the same place. Chris is now able to help with coaching Riley's t-ball team. Another of Chris' dreams coming true. He is so good when it comes to dealing with children, he knows that the important part of these games isn't winning or losing, but learning and enjoying the game.

Wishing you all a beautiful and safe 4th of July weekend!

My Bucket List

Just the other day I visited Lots Of Little Things and Willzmom had done a post of her Bucket List. This 'Bucket List' is a spin off of the recently released movie with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. I am sure that most people think about what they would like to accomplish or experience before they die or in this case 'Kick The Bucket'. I know I have and it seems as if the older I get, the more I think about it.

If you would like to do a bucket list of your own and would like to use the graphic of the buckets feel free to grab it. After you post your list come back and leave a comment on this post letting me know. I would love to read yours.

  • A road trip through the west with JD to see the Virgin River Gorge in Utah. I saw it many years ago and thought it was the most beautiful scenery I had ever seen in my life. I would like to share that beauty with JD.

  • Go to Branson, Missouri

  • See performances by Ricky Skaggs, Alison Krauss and Martina McBride.

  • Visit New England in the fall and Niagara Falls while we are in the neighborhood.

  • Write an 'Ethical Will' for my loved ones.

  • Finish our renovations on the house and throw a party to celebrate it.

It's not a really long list is it? For the most part I would have to say that thanks to my JD, the children and grandchildren, I have had a pretty full and satisfying life. Maybe I am just easily entertained, but I have never been one to have Big Dreams, like sky diving, etc. I guess you could say I dream thrifty or dream within my means. Dreams have always seemed more attainable to me that way.
