Manic Monday

I woke up early this morning, as I usually do and enjoyed my coffee while Paddy and JD slept. It is during quiet times like this that I sort through the agenda for the day ahead of me. This day included a visit to our new Dr. after lunch to get acquainted and let him know if we have any immediate health concerns that needs to be taken care of.

After breakfast and a shower, I had some lab reports that I needed to download and print out to take to the Dr. when we went. As I sat at the computer I couldn't help but notice all of the sunshine that was pushing its way past the curtains, making promises of a beautiful day ahead. I admit I was distracted by this and even more so when I heard one, and then another, and yet another lawnmower firing up around the neighborhood. In my wildest dreams, I never thought I would see the day that people would be mowing their yards in Ohio, the middle of March.

I did eventually work past the distractions to get my lab reports copied and off we went to our Dr. appointments. I am pleased to report that I think we made a wise choice and will be very happy with this Doctor. Of course JD turned his charm on and impressed all of them with that sense of humor and personality that is so uniquely JD.

We talked about the nodule they found on my thyroid in late 2010. A second ultrasound has shown that it has grown, so I will be seeing an ENT the first part of April to discuss my options concerning that.

........... and then I turned around only to find the day was gone. I hope if the sun was shining in your world today, that you had the opportunity to soak up some of those warm rays and enjoy the day.

I am Blessed

Grab A Cuppa

Good morning everyone. Yesterday was quite a long day. J.D. and I both had Dr. appointments, which even under the best of circumstances can manage to shoot a huge hole in your day. The Dr. wants to have J.D. tested for P.A.D. and he is sedning me to the pain management clinic to see if they can help me with the effects of my Fibromyalgia.

They recently built an Olive Garden in Chillicothe so we decided after seeing the Dr. to go there for lunch. Everything was so delicious. That in itself was our bight spot in the day.

We were still carrying prescriptions around that needed filling, so on to the pharmacy we went. There we had a 45 minute wait for the prescriptions could be filled. So we did a little bit of shopping and waited and waited and waited some more. J.D. went to check to see if they were ready for pickup yet and got in line where he waited and waited and waited some more. He had noticed a woman standing off to the side that had been waiting longer than he had so when it came to be his turn he allowed this woman to go ahead of him. Sometimes even the smallest act of kindness can spark nastiness from self centered people. The venom sprayed out of the woman's mouth behind J.D. when she immediately said, "Some people don't think they have to wait in line!" J.D. (diplomatic as he is) turn and told her, the woman was there waiting on the side when he got in line. Subject closed! Then it was our turn to pick up our drugs and from there it was homeward bound.
I picked up a big bag of bird seed yesterday while we were out. The other day I looked out the window and the yard was full of robins. We also have our year round birds hopping about looking for seeds. With the ground covered with snow and the trees and snow covered with a layer of ice, I thought it might be the nice and neighborly thing to do to put out some seed for them that is easier accessable than what is under all of that snow and ice.
One of our blog friends visited J.D's blog and asked how we ended up in the little house on the mountain. When we got home yesterday he did a post with that topic. In the four months that we spent on the road looking with realtor listings and classified pages in hand, I truly do believe that the wheels of our truck rolled over every road in this county. Still today we will travel on a road that I don't recall being on before and J.D. will comment that it looks familiar. I remember one house we looked at that wasn't too bad for the money they wanted for it. It had quite a bit of land that came with it. We drove past it and on up the road to turn around so we could see it good from another angle.... The next drive is where we turned at. The house sat back off of the road and you didn't notice it until you pulled into the drive way..... WOW!!!! What we saw was a house surrounded with bright yellow crime scene tape. It didn't take much to convince us that we didn't want to live in that neck of the woods.
That pretty much recaps yesterday. Have a great day and thank you for coming by for the coffee and visit.

One Of Those Days

I am a little late getting my post up today. Reason being that along with the New Year also comes time to get back to that blood work routine and Doctor appointments. I am scheduled to return to my Diabetes Boot camp (aka Endocrinologist Appointment) and to report in to my Drill Instructor (aka Endocrinologist) a week from Friday. That translate in to, the latest I could get my blood work done was this morning. J.D. doesn't really enjoy these appointments with her because Ican easily walk into the office and not surface again for several hours. I really don't mind it myself though, I always find plenty to read to keep my mind occupied while I wait. She never rushes me through and spends as much time with me as I need for her to without giving me the feeling that I need to hurry it up. She really is a good Doctor and is aggressive when it comes to treating my disease which is what I need.
The good news of the day is that the clinic hired a new Lab Tech. Now we have two there with the knowledge of how to draw blood. I am a challenge to the techs when it comes to drawing my blood. As soon as I tell them they are going to need a butterfly to get it, most of them look at me like "where is your badge saying you are qualified to make that call ?" ........ There have been a few that tried it without the butterfly and ended up having to find creative ways and places to fill the little tubes with blood. Now these are usually the same ones that after their first attempt at drawing my blood work will cringe and try to hide when they see me coming on future visits. Little do they know that I cringe and want to hide when I see them as well. At any rate I have been grateful for our Dear Debby for a long time. Now there is Jeremy that we can all be grateful for as well. He popped that butterfly into my one good vein with precise accuracy and in no time at all those three little tubes were filled and I was on my way out the door. J.D. was amazed at how quickly that went. I made it a point to tell Jeremy how much he is appreciated. I didn't even feel the needle go in. That is what I call a "GOOD JOB!"
After the blood work was done we headed to Bob Evans for breakfast. I can endure just about anything as long as Bob Evans is dangled in my vision like a big carrot as an award. Breakfast was wonderful as usual and the coffee was the icing on the cake.
From Bob's we made a trip to the pharmacy to pick up some meds, the dollar store to get paper products and detergent, and then on to Kroger to hunt down some food bargains. So there you have it. We ventured off of the mountain today and did our part for the economy. We are stocked up on enough food, meds and paper products to keep us on the mountain for a few weeks. That is with the exception of Seth Day and Diabetes Boot Camp.
