It Is Official

A little while back, blog pal Sherry @ Edie Marie's Attic posted about turning that golden age of 60 and the state of Ohio sending their best wishes in the form of a Golden Buckeye Card. I realized then that my days were numbered. No matter how hard I tried, I knew that it would eventually catch up with me as well. I think it is wonderful how the state of Ohio doesn't want it's golden aged citizens to miss out on even one day of using their Golden Buckeye Cards. They don't wait until you actually turn 60, they mail those Golden Buckeye Cards out at least a good month before. Just imagine the joy I felt when I opened the mail box and found an envelope addressed to me from "The Ohio Department Of The Aging". Oh it was well worth that half mile walk to the mail box to find that little treasure waiting for me.

You have no idea how envious I have been of JD since he got his. He always has his wallet in hand and ready to whip out that golden little card when he asks, "Do you accept the Golden Buckeye Card?" Nine times out of ten the answer being, "Sorry, but no." That is usually when he asks if they accept AARP...... Blood Doner Card ..... how about a Library Card? You can bet that I will get some use out of my card. Even if the majority of retailers don't accept it, I know for a fact that in a tight spot, it can be used to scrape ice and snow from a windshield.

So now it is official.
According to The Ohio Department Of Aging:

-> ->{{{ I AM NOW OLD }}}<- <-

Have a wonderful day!

Come November I'll be 60, we don't have those cards but we do get a free bus pass! My man has had one since October and uses it at every opportunity. We also get free prescriptions at 60 too, so there are some advantages to getting old. :)

I don't usually like to admit my age (3 years older than necessary for the Golden Buckeye card if I lived in Ohio), but I'll sure admit to it when I can get a discount somewhere!

I definitely take advantage of all senior discounts.

Well, the flipside of getting old would be, um, DEAD, so I guess getting oldER is better than not aging at all. ;o)

Have a great rest of your week, Jo. :o)

Love and hugs,

Diane

Jo, Sixty is NOT old. I will say there are times when it sounds old, but that was back in our grandparent's days. Remember their house dresses ?
The only time I feel old is when I talk to H S students and they talk so fast, i can't catch a thing.
What does the card do for you ? Discounts, etc.
I just try to forget it all and just be me. Sometimes I think I will never grow up.

Happy birthday.

Stop by my blog when you get a chance...I have a song on there that I recorded that I think you might like.
