Dirty Wash

A young couple moved into a new neighborhood. The first morning, while they were eating breakfast, the young woman saw the neighbor hanging up the wash outside.

"That laundry is not very clean," she said. "She doesn't know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs another laundry soap."

The husband looked on, but remained silent.

Every time her neighbor would hang out the wash, the young woman would make the same comment.

About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband, "Look! she has learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this?"

Her husband said, "I got up early this morning and washed the windows."

And so it is with life: What we see while watching others, depends on the purity of the window through which we look.

Things aren't what they appear to be.

I just had to share this little parable with all of you. It sure does speak volumes, doesn't it! As I read it, I thought about the campaigning that is going on. For the most part I try to keep my politics to myself. I guess because I hate to offend any one. I have to say this though, I will be one of many that will celebrate the end of the up coming election. I watched all of the debates and with every one of them ended up angry and upset because one candidate repeatedly answered questions asked of him with accusations and digs about the other candidate. If he answered any of the questions with a straight forward ....... "This is my plans if I am elected _____" then I missed it because I was still fuming over his last dance around the question with yet another slam of his opponent.

With that said, I will close this topic before I really get started on it. I will be posting again on a fairly regular basis. My blood sugar numbers are starting to come back down into a reasonable range which means that I am feeling some what better. I hope all is well with everyone. I will be around for a visit soon.

May your blessings be many and your disappointments few.

Hi Jo - I'm with lib in that it's good to hear that you're better and I look forward to reading your blogs again, have missed your chat.
Love from the land of the Tartan and the Heather,(and from me too)

p.s. Like your other commenters I also loved the wee parable - a very apt message for me to take in. Lord knows I can be a bit quick to open my big mouth sometimes...

I am so glad you are feeling better! Thank you for the great story. How very true it is. If only we would all look at ourselves before criticizing another we all might be a little wiser. As far as this election? I to will be very glad when it is over. I am tired of all the angry accusations from "both" sides. Hugs Jo, and i hope your weekend is a blessed one!

Dirty windows never make us see things clearly. Good analogy!
Let's say a prayer for this country. We need a president who can heal the division in this country.

Jo,

A great post. We always need to be aware of the way we look at things and be cautious of criticizing others. Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

All politicians play dirty nowadays. Our Canadian election is over and though I wasn't real happy with the results, I'm glad it's over. 300 million of taxpayers money went down the drain as the same man got in with a minority government, just what he had before. I expect another federal election to be called in a year or two and there goes our money again.

Blessings for a great week.
